Privacy Policy
How Cultuur Atelier handles your personal data, and what rights you have.
Who is responsible
Cultuur Atelier, the sole proprietorship of Ilya Dierckens, Ghent, is the data controller for the personal data collected through this site. Questions about privacy can be sent to info@cultuuratelier.com.
What data, and why
Through the contact form I collect your name, email address, the subject of your question and your message. I use that data solely to reply to your question. No additional data is collected "for statistics", and there is no newsletter.
Legal basis
This processing is based on legitimate interest (being able to properly answer a question you've asked yourself) or, where applicable, to take steps prior to entering into an agreement.
Retention period
Contact form submissions are automatically deleted after a reasoned period of 12 months, unless they are part of an ongoing project. Back-ups containing personal data follow the same retention logic and are kept no longer than necessary for recovery in the event of an incident.
Recipients and processors
Your data is not sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. It only reaches the parties needed to keep the site running: the hosting provider (within the EU) and, where applicable, the email service through which your message is forwarded.
For visitor statistics we use Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited), but only after you give consent via the cookie banner — without consent, nothing is loaded and no data is shared with Google. If you do consent, Google Analytics places cookies and may transfer data (such as your IP address and browsing behaviour) to Google servers outside the EU, under the safeguards of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can withdraw your consent at any time via the "Settings" button at the bottom of every page.
Cookies
When you give consent via the cookie banner, we use the following cookie:
- _ga / _ga_<container ID> — set by Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited), retained for a maximum of 13 months. Purpose: anonymously measuring visitor numbers and page traffic, so we understand which content is useful. Not used for advertising or profiling.
If you decline consent (or make no choice), this cookie is never set. The only cookie that is set regardless of your choice is ca_consent — a purely technical cookie that remembers which choice you made, so the banner does not reappear on every visit. It contains no personal data and is not shared with third parties.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete and restrict your data, the right to object to the processing, and the right to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact ilya@cultuuratelier.be.
Right to complain
If you are not satisfied with how your data is processed, you can file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (DPA), Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels — www.gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be.
